Kids Activities
There's plenty for the kids to enjoy at this year's Heritage Festival. Pumpkin painting, wagon rides, and craft projects are just a few of the activities planned for the day--many of which are free!
PIONEER MUSEUM **FREE**
This hands-on learning museum exhibit gives children and adults a look into the past at how families lived "in the old days". Day-to-day living experiences like kneading dough, churning butter, combing wool to turn to thread, and washing clothes on a washboard are just a few of the many chores you can try.
CRAFT PROJECTS **FREE**
The festival is very fortunate to have a community of volunteers from local businesses and organizations to supervise and donate time and materials for our craft stations. Children can make a variety of arts and crafts projects ranging from coloring pages, beaded bracelets, construction paper crafts, and many more mediums. Since our festival is an Art festival, we wish to share our love of the arts with children and hope to inspire budding young artists.
STRAW MAZE **FREE**
Half a block on Washington Street becomes a twisting, turning, maze of straw. Children love trying to find their way through the maze multiple times. Don't worry parents, you can always keep a watchful eye on your child's journey in the maze since the straw bails are only stacked two bails high.
HORSE & WAGON RIDES **FREE**
Take a tour through our historical town with a horse and wagon ride. Jeff Varner and his friends never disappoint with his beautiful team of horses and comfortable ride through town.
FACE PAINTING
Spiderman, seascapes, butterflies and skeletons take over the festival in the form of face painting. Artfully skilled, the face painter can transform your child's face into a piece of art! There is a fee for face painting, prices vary depending on design.
PUMPKIN PAINTING
What's a fall festival without pumpkins? This booth is the most hopping attraction at the festival! Kids love picking out their pumpkin and then dressing it up for a personal touch with paint, feather, and jewels. There is a small fee to purchase the pumpkins, but the crafts to decorate/style the pumpkin are free.
